All,
I'm selling the M20 out of my 1989 325i. The reason for the sale is that I'm swapping in a different engine. The car and engine have about 140K miles. The pic of the odometer shows that it reads fewer miles, as at some point the gear in the cluster was stripped. The engine runs well with no issues.

The motor comes with power steering pump and alternator, exhast headers, ignition coil, engine harness, ECU (with E.A.T. performance chip installed, stock chip also included), engine fan, midpipe, stock intake tract, intake manifold, throttle body, air flow meter, and airbox. The driveshaft, transmission, and exhaust midpipe also have to go. I've got spares I'll throw in and if you want the current radiator you can have it as well.
The engine is working and in the car at present. If you'd like to see it run in the next couple of weeks, that can certainly be arranged. After that, we'll be pulling the engine so I can get its replacement in.
Compression numbers are in a range from 152.5 PSI to 165 PSI. If you want the numbers for each cylinder I can provide them.
The head and timing gear were replaced at around 96K miles with a fresh blank by the former owner, due to timing belt breakage.
Recent maintenance done (within last six months):
- all fluids changed (oil, transmission fluid, coolant)
- new timing belt
- new water pump
- new spark plugs
- new oxygen sensor
- new water temp sensor
- new thermostat
- new valve cover gasket
- new distributor cap and rotor
- valves adjusted
- new accessory belts
- new guibo
- new CSB on driveshaft
The oil cooler is not going to go with the engine... I'm going to be retaining that for now.
The only thing that isn't installed is the A/C compressor, which developed a leak. If you want it for a core you can certainly take it off my hands. It has the proper angled fitting that most rebuilt compressors for the E30 will need.
I'm asking $1,000 for the engine and accessories (p/s pump, alternator) alone. I'll let the transmission go with it for another $250. The Paul Poore oil pan (currently installed) will be extra, around $250. If the buyer isn't interested in the custom pan I'll install a stock pan in its place.
So, $1,500 for the M20 with transmission and custom oil pan.
I'm located in north Dallas just south of Plano.
Please let me know (via forum or at chunt85@hotmail.com) if you have any questions and thanks!
